Truth and Lies

By Lara Dunning

My memories speak a mixture of truth and lies. They will come, but do they really exist? After Grandpa’s death, everything he told me melted and blended together. It’s like, the empty space, right there, in the middle of my chest, gobbled it all up and left me with nothing but mashed up words; part reality, part delusion.

But, he spoke the truth, and they have found me. Why didn’t I ask him for answers? Why did I think he’d live forever? Now, all I can do is stare at the book he gave me and try to figure out my destiny. I just hope I get it right.
