Young Writers Contest Celebration & Ceremony

Saturday April 14th 1pm

(please arrive by 12:45pm)

at the Heart of Anacortes (on the corner of 4th & O Ave)

FIWG for Literacy’s 1st Annual Young Writers Contest received almost 100 entries!!! Saturday’s celebration will honor all of the children who entered and annouce the finalists and honorary mentions for each grade level, as well as President’s Choice and Vice President’s Choice. Prizes will be given and photos will be taken – including group photos for the book.

Books will be ready in 4-5 weeks. Each entrant will receive a free book as soon as they arrive. For additional book orders, you can pre-order on Saturday for $28 per book. We will also send pre-order forms home with each of you for extended family and friends. Please bring check or cash. You can also purchase via Paypal. All book proceeds go back into the guilds continuing work with Anacortes children and next year contest.

Feel free to bring your favorite dish, dessert or non-alcoholic beverages to share with this wonderful group of young writers!

Anacortes Magazine’s April issue featured the article “A Long Lost Friend,” written by Ronda Rae Franklin which delves further into the Young Writers Contest. You will each receive a hard copy of the Anacortes Magazine on Saturday. Also, the links in this paragraph will bring you to the online version that you can read now if you wish.
